There are many missing pet scenarios in which the best way to return a pet home is through the use of a Pet Detective and K9 search team.  These dogs are trained scent specifically which means they will only follow the trail of the scent given to them.  Pet owners are instructed on how to prepare a scent article prior to our arrival.  It is with this scent article that the search dogs know which trail to follow!  Does this really work?  YES.  Having to go through the trauma of a missing pet is heartbreaking and you are strongly encouraged to ask as many questions as possible and check references.  It is very important you understand this process from beginning to end.  If you are unclear about any information please keep asking for clarification until you feel fully educated. Do we always run right up to the missing pet?  No, nor should any pet detective promise to do this. Nothing is ever fail proof and this is no different. Our focus is to establish where your pet left from, the direction he/she took and try to establish a travel pattern of your pet.  Many times there is one and we then narrow down where your pet most likely is.  I cannot begin to tell you how many pet owners say "I cannot believe he/she went this way." Of course if they knew the direction their pet went in, and how far, they most likely would have recovered them on their own.  Dog searches and cat searches vary from each other and the methods utilized differ as well.  Searches average between 4-6 hours.  Every search begins and ends with 110% effort by the Pet Detective and the search dogs.  Many missing pets are returned within 48 - 72 hours after the search due to the information and methods provided by the pet detection team.
